Say Yes

Besides the basic human necessities, I really cannot live without the internet. It’s an essential and I would feel “lost” without it.

I use it for almost everything – look up recipes for dinner (you should see how I cook in the kitchen – one hand holding a wooden spoon and another hand holding my iPhone, trying to follow the cooking instructions), send Whatsapp messages to my family and friends, check my emails, search for a specific location using gps on my phone, search for food recommendations when I’m at a new place, etc…

And then of course there’s Instagram. It’s interesting to see pictures of what my nephews and my friends’ kids are up to, what other people are wearing today, what they are having for lunch, what new arrival items my favorite online stores are releasing, etc etc. I just have to check it for like every hour or my fingers would itch. I’m addicted!

All of these require internet connection, which is not a problem when I’m at home. But when I’m out and about – when I need my phone and a fast internet connection the most (you know, in case I got lost or I need to post a photo of my yummy dessert on Instagram or something), that’s when I usually face connection problem.

One time, I was at Sephora looking for a new facial scrub when I came across a new brand with a pretty packaging. I wasn’t sure if it was any good, so I quickly took out my phone from my bag and started to look up for the reviews of that scrub on Sephora website (they have user reviews and ratings which I find very helpful). But the WiFi connection was very slow, so there I was, standing in the middle of the beauty aisle, frantically reloading the page for like the hundredth time while my husband was impatiently waiting outside, giving me the “how-long-are-you-going-to-be-in-there” look. Gahhh!

It can be frustrating dealing with super slow internet connection. You can’t even rely on the free WiFi connections that some cafes and restaurants provide because they are also slow as everyone else is using it.

Maybe I should say yes to YES. I heard about their new mobile hotspot device – the Huddle XS. This device can create private WiFi hotspots wherever you are and it’s light and compact enough to slip in your pocket or inside your handbag. It’s just the size of your palm!

The Huddle XS would be perfect especially for gizmo geeks who like to carry around several devices with them wherever they go – phone, tablet, laptop. You can share high speed internet connection (4G y’all!) on multiple devices that’s 10 times faster than other 3G providers.Β Your iPhone, iPad and Macbook can all be connected with just one subscription. You can stream videos without buffering (ain’t that a pain?), download your favorite songs, update blog, upload photos on social medias, etc faster than ever, even when you’re (moving) in a car! Best part is, even if you’ve used up all your data quota, you can still continue using unlimited data at 128Mbps with no extra charge.

The Huddle XS retails for RM480, but if you sign up for their Yes Super Postpaid Plans between 2nd January – 31st March 2014, you can get the Huddle XS for FREE! They are also having the largest tablet giveaway contest – 90 tablets are up for grabs and you could stand a chance to win one. There’s only 12 days left to win it!

If you’re thinking of getting a new phone, you might want to check out the latest baby from Samsung – the GALAXY Note 3 Rose Gold Edition. It’s an improved version of GALAXY Note 2 with a more prestigious and sophisticated design – soft leather-like cover at the back with Rose Gold accent, 5.7″ HD screen to enjoy a more vivid viewing experience and a new S pen for smoother navigation.

Ok, the Black with Rose Gold is nice too. Looks kinda edgy.

Phone Dilemma

My iPhone 4 is showing signs of going kaput and I will need to get a new phone sooner or later. Sometimes it just freezes, the home button is unresponsive, and paling geram is the camera which takes forever to load. Imagine my frustration when my girls are doing something cute and I want to snap some pics of them right away, only to have a slow camera phone with me. By the time the camera is loaded, my girls are already running around doing something else and all I could snap was some blurry faces (you know how it is with kids). Pffft. I don’t blame them. I blame my iPhone camera. I really need a new phone with awesome camera features!

My husband and I had been loyal Apple users for the past few years andΒ I was so sure that I would replace my current iPhone with iPhone 5. But that was then. Now I’m starting to have second thoughts. I mean, I still love Apple products *hugs our iMacs and MacBooks*…. but have you seen Samsung Galaxy S4?? Nice, right! It doesn’t help that my husband is giving “green light” if I want to get that phone (he wanted to give Galaxy Note II for my birthday but I asked for a camera instead).

Previously he was like, “Tak payah la. iPhone lagi best blablabla *starts to defend Apple*”, when I suggested different brands of phones. I don’t know what happened. Haha.

I’ve used my husband’s iPhone 5 and I like it. The camera is fast, takes sharp and clear photos. But I’ve heard great things about S4 too. And the screen is bigger!

For someone who is an Instagram-holic and uses her phone mainly for the camera and internet, which one would you recommend? I really can’t make up my mind! A little help would be much appreciated (especially those who have experienced using both phones). Thank you.

For Every Photonista

I have a few items in my wish list right now, and a new camera is one of them!

senQ is currently having a Digital Imaging Promotion on a few camera models, I just had to drag my husband to check it out. I was rambang mata when I saw all the cool camera models at senQ – Nikon, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Olympus, Canon. They are all canggih and aesthetically appealing! All slim and sleek with nice colors to choose from.

Kakak checking out one of the Lumix cameras on display.

I was told that the Digital Imaging Promotion is only for these selected camera models:

1) Samsung NX1000
2) Samsung NX210
3) Sony NEX-F3K
4) Sony NEX-5N
5) Panasonic Lumix GF5
6) Panasonic Lumix GX1

When the sales assistant took out all the cameras and put them on the counter for me to check out, I was attracted to the Panasonic Lumix GF5 camera the most! It’s the smallest camera and most compact in size compared to the others.

I. WANT. IT.

The Panasonic Lumix GF5 comes in 5 stunning colors, but if I were to choose, I would definitely get the white one. I always prefer white when it comes to gadgets, even tho my favorite color is pink. White looks elegant and sophisticated, doncha think?

Even though the size is ultra-compact, the Lumix GF5 gives amazing performance with its Venus Engine image processor that lets you take true-to-life pictures. You can make your pictures or videos even more impressive by applying filter effects – high key, low key, sepia, dynamic monochrome, one point color, soft focus, miniature effect, impressive art, high dynamic, retro, expressive, cross process, toy effect and star filter.

Comes with a built-in flash and interchangeable lens

Rubber hand grip makes it easier to hold the camera while taking pictures

3″ touch-screen LCD for ease of operation

The Digital Imaging Promotion by senQ includes:

  • 5 year warranty with purchase of any interchangeable lens camera
  • Discount vouchers up to RM300 with purchases of interchangeable lens camera

The Techie Wears Prada

Last week I attended a Celcom event at G Tower. It was the launching of a brand new fashion smartphone – the Prada phone!

First time bringing my DSLR alone (usually my hubby holds it for me)

The event was rather glamourous and there were gorgeous models everywhere, showcasing the gorgeous phone.

This one looks like a mannequin, no?

Not a model material!
With Wei Zhi and Eiling

I made new friends with other bloggers too.

The LG Prada 3.0 is aesthetically classy and stylish, just like any other Prada products. It is so slim and sleek with only 8.5mm thickness, which makes it amongst the slimmest smartphones out there! The phone is equipped with Android’s Gingerbread OS, a 4.3-inch screen, an 8MP camera and up to 8MB of user memory. Celcom is the only telco that you can get this classy phone from. That’s because the Prada phone works best on Celcom network as it has the widest coverage. Quite pointless if you have such a stunning phone but a sucky coverage, huh.

I love the leather details on the back cover.
Luxury in its purest sense!

Desserts. Yummy!

I feel like a hobbit seeing these tall models -__-
Look at those loooong legs!
There was a contest too, that night. Each one of us bloggers gets to pose with the LG Prada phone and the 2 most creative poses win the phone! I didn’t win tho (no surprise there), because a) I’m shy, and b) I don’t know how to pose creatively.
So who won?

KY (he did cleopatra pose)

Chuckei (she did a Dragon ball pose)
As for me…

I did a boring pose >_<
But that’s okay, I still have another chance to win this phone. And not just the Prada phone, but Prada voucher as well! Yes, Prada voucher that can be used to redeem a bag or wallet or shoes or sunnies or anything by Prada!
Oh yes, you too can join this contest if you’re a Nuffnang blogger. Using your most creative idea, create a video blog that demonstrates “Celcom and Prada, the perfect match”. This contest ends on 28th March 2012 so upload your video on your blog and YouTube, and get as many people as you can to view your videos because the most viewed videos will win:
Grand Prize: RM2,500 Prada voucher + Prada phone
2nd Prize: RM1,500 Prada voucher + Prada phone
3rd Prize: RM1,000 Prada voucher
And don’t forget to submit your video entry to Nuffnang.
This has got to be the most exciting contest prizes yet!
Prada vouchers, man!
