Rakuten Online Shopping Mall

RakutenLogo

Japan’s number 1 online shopping mall, Rakuten, is now available in Malaysia. It’s basically like a shopping mall, where they have different shops under one roof except… well, it’s online! They have heaps of products – over 100,000 products ranging from electronics, home and living, baby and maternity, books, fashion, beauty and many more. Heck, they even have food and beverages on their website!

If you’re looking for something for your home and family, do check out this website especially their beauty/cosmetic and kitchen sections (I have yet to khatam browsing everything on Rakuten. So many items!).

The first thing I saw on Rakuten website was “SK II” at their Hot Items tab (you know how much I love SK II!). I was impressed with their range of SK II products, especially the trial sets. I don’t think you can get them over the counter (unless if you purchase a certain amount of products), so this is great for those who want to try SK II for the first time or even for traveling.

As I browsed more, I saw SK II Facial Treatment Essence 215ml selling at cheaper than retail price (RM480 instead of RM565) and decided to purchase it right away. I also decided to purchase 1 piece of SK II Skin Signature 3D Refining Mask because I forgot whether I’ve tried that mask or not. Heh.

Purchasing from Rakuten is hassle-free and pretty straight forward. Add items to shopping cart, click checkout button, fill in your shipping details and proceed to payment page.

They have a few payment options too – you can pay with your Visa or MasterCard credit cards, online banking (Maybank2u, CIMB Clicks, etc), ATM/Cash transfer, Celcom AirCash, COD (if merchant allows) and even Rakuten Super Points.

Once you’ve made the payment, an email will be sent to you with all your order details. They will email you again when your order has shipped together with the tracking number so you can track your package online.

I received my items after 5 days, which is not so bad. I don’t know about you, but I always get so excited when my package arrived. It’s like opening present! :D

IMG_8953Tadaa~ my daily essential. Can’t get enough of this stuff!

I received a note in the invoice saying that the Skin Signature 3D Mask is out of stock and that they will send it to me when it’s available. They ganti with SK II Facial Treatment Mask for the time being. That’s ok by me. Overall, it was a smooth shopping experience with Rakuten and I’m happy with my purchase!

Now, here’s a good news for my readers. Rakuten is giving away RM30 shopping coupon a.k.a RaCoupon for all my readers who signed up as Rakuten members. You can sign up here! Simply key in this coupon code “RAKUPINK30” at the payment page to receive RM30 discount for your purchase of RM120 and above. This coupon is only valid from 23rd July to 3rd August 2014 so hurry and use it!

On top of that, you can also join Rakuten’s Spend & Win contest where you can stand a chance to win prizes worth more than RM5,000 when you purchase anything from Rakuten Malaysia website. This contest ends on 31st July 2014 so there’s still time to join it! More details about the contest here.

Here’s a few merchants (and their items) that I would recommend, in case you don’t know where to get started:

1) BEAUTY DE HOME

This merchant sells a variety of skincare, fragrance and makeup products from various high end brands – Chanel, Lancome, Dior, Burberry and SK II, just to name a few (I purchased my SK II products from this merchant btw). If you’re new to SK II, I would recommend either one of these basic trial sets:

Rakuten1SK II Pitera Essence Set – RM213
SK II Trial Set 5  – RM210
SK II Trial Set 2 – RM155

2) BigSpoon Kitchenware

They have everything that your kitchen needs! Cookware, bakeware (saw a donut pan and immediately thought of Joy The Baker’s Double Chocolate Cake Doughnuts because she baked her doughnuts using donut/doughnut pan like this one), tableware, utensils, kitchen storage and cool specialty tools like the turning slicer in the pic below which can easily slice fruits, veggies, onions, cheese, etc into 5 different shapes. And how fun is that lattice cutter? I’ve never made pies and pastries before, but I might try and make one if I have it.

Rakuten3Donut Pan 6 Cups – RM12.46
KASSPO Turning Slicer – RM899
Plastic Lattice Cutter – RM11.90

3) MYND Furniture

Cool furniture and storage solution for your house. I love their jewellery cabinets especially. In fact, I have this exact Mirror Jewellery Cabinet in white, which I purchased from the same merchant some time ago.

Check out these other cool products from MYND Furniture:

RakutenMAGNO Side Pumping Mirror Jewelry Cabinet – RM799
Louis chair – RM489
Wooden Tower Bookshelf Organizer – RM269

You can go to Shop Directory to view the full list of merchants available on Rakuten website.

Rakuten is also having Raya Sale up to 70% off in conjunction with this festive season. Browse their Raya Sale here.

Happy shopping!

Nora Danish for FashionValet

When I heard that FashionValet is collaborating with Nora Danish for their Raya collection, I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to see it. Nora Danish is one of those well-dressed Malaysian celebs so I was sure her collection would not disappoint.

FashionValet held a private fashion show for the exclusive collection at White Box Publika last Thursday. The collection is not yet launched to the public so I was among the first lucky ones to view the entire collection. If you’re into simple, classy design, you’re gonna love it!

Nora Danish for FashionValet features a monochrome collection that are simple yet classy and stylish. I would totally wear them! You can never go wrong with black and white, and I love that these pieces can also be worn as separates.

There are a total of 8 looks altogether and my favorites are these…

Dipped Row Exclusive Trunk Show

I was invited to Dipped Row’s tea party and trunk show at The Cigar Room in Kenny Hills last week with my sister, Wani. To be honest, I have never heard of the brand before so I was pretty excited to check them out and feast my eyes (and hands) on the newly discovered jewellery brand over delectable desserts.

Coincidentally wore color-coordinating outfit with my sister. Ha!
(I’m wearing Tudung People Numa shawl, Zara tunic dress, Next white pants and Jessica Simpson platform sandals)

Dipped Row was founded by three childhood friends, Karina, Azura and Lina, who are self-confessed jewellery addicts. Every piece in the collection is personally curated to showcase a glimmer of their different personalities and style.

As I arrived at the door, rows of sparkly colorful necklaces caught my eyes from across the room so I went straight to the table where they showcased the collection and just stared admiringly at them. I went like, “Oh my, that is nice. Oooh, this one too. And this one. And that one!”. Every piece is drool-worthy!

Their Spring/Summer 2014 collection features distinctive yet versatile jeweleries; from simple dainty bracelets to head-turning statement necklaces that would surely complement and elevate any ensemble. Necklaces and earrings are embellished with crystal clusters, floral patterns and brightly colored resin stones, while the bracelets are swathed in exotic stingray, phyton and ostrich leather.

They have clutches too, all brightly bling-ed!

So in love with this Kaleidoscope Clutch Bag.

Of course there were yummy desserts (and other food). Man, I was so busy checking out the jeweleries that I forgot how hungry I was until I saw these.

These earrings cookies inspired by Dipped Row’s own collection looked so real – so sayang to eat!

My sister and I had been whatsapp-ing each other a few days before the event, telling how we were craving for yummy vanilla cupcakes, so you can imagine how beyond happy we were when we saw those pink cupcakes. They were so good!

I must say, the highlight of the event is the jewellery customization. Guests were given the opportunity to choose any piece of Dipped Row necklace that was laid on the table (there were a few different designs to choose from) and give it a little makeover by painting it with nail polish! How brilliant is that? I have never thought of doing that before.

The 2 most beautiful designs would win some goodies from Dipped Row so everyone started to work on their designs right away. Some even sketched a few design options on paper first with swatches of colors!

I chose this necklace, and so did my sister (no surprise there. We kinda have the same taste in almost everything :P)

Yes, hi sister. Bye sister. Hehe

I don’t have a lot of blue and purple necklaces so I decided to paint it in those 2 colors. I  should have just left it like this laa – just bits of purple and blue. Looked simple and nice, me think. But it was a lot of fun painting those crystals that I got carried away. I even wanted to paint the chains after finishing with the crystals, but thought that might be a bit too much.

The end result. Wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to add pink, but whatevs. It was fun playing jewellery designer! We even get to keep the necklace so yay (I’m so gonna padam the colors and paint a new one soon).

So guess who won this necklace-painting competition?

My sister! (and this other lady)

I have to admit, their necklaces looked impressive. The color combinations are beautiful and they didn’t even look like they were painted with nail polishes! (My sister’s necklace is the one of the right, by the way)

Dipped Row collection are available online at www.dippedrow.com. You seriously have to check them out! They are affordably-priced, between RM30 – RM400 and they offer fast delivery throughout Malaysia, as well as a few selected international countries.

And not only that, the team at Dipped Row are feeling generous and they’re giving a special discount for my readers to shop! Simply use this discount code: PINKSTILETTOS at checkout and you will get RM20 off your purchase of over RM100. This code expires on the 31st May 2014, so hurry!

They are also having a Mother’s Day promotion where you can get 15% off on all items with the code: MOTHERSDAY. The last day for you to use this code is on the 7th May 2014 by 2pm and your order will arrive just in time for Mother’s Day.

Happy shopping!

Girls’ Outfit Ideas

A few of my friends have started scouting around for their kids’ Raya clothes and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. More reasons to shop for those cute little dresses, yay!

I came up with a few outfit ideas for my girls from my favorite children clothing brands and thought of sharing them here (don’t worry hubby, I’m not going to buy all of them). This is what I usually do before making a purchase – I make mental notes when browsing online and in stores, trying to put their outfits together by mixing and matching with whatever pieces they already have, while making sure one sister’s outfit coordinates with the other (read how I coordinate my girls’ outfits here). Sounds like a bit of a task but it’s actually a lot of fun!

Batik Chic

I have always loved the casual chic looks with blazers, jackets or cardigans. I think it looks great on most women – not too casual, not too overdone.

But the thing about me is that, I have thick layers of stubborn fat so most blazers and jackets felt too warm for me and I’d be sweating buckets (even in an aircond room!) like I just ran a marathon. Sighhh…

Or maybe I just have a high metabolism or something. That’s why you seldom see me in jackets or blazers, unless if I’m in a cold country. Usually I would just opt for lightweight jackets/blazers/cardigans instead, especially the chiffon or satin ones. They’re my ultimate fave!

My recent favorite is this batik cardigan from Matase Sutera. Yes, batik!

I know most people would shy away from batik for everyday wear and only wear them for formal occasions. But there are ready-to-wear batik clothing that are chic and contemporary. Matase Sutera is a brand that specializes in hand-drawn batik prints and they carry various designs of ready-to-wear batik clothing such as kurungs, kaftans, jubahs, blouses and cardigans at reasonable prices.

The one I’m wearing here is Laylaa spiral cardigan in blue. It comes in 2 other colors as well – black and fuchsia.

This batik cardigan is made of satin material with a simple abstract pattern and clean lines. It has an open front and kimono sleeves which make it an easy breezy cardigan, perfect for warm sunny weathers. I love how airy and comfy this cardigan is – I feel like I could fly!

My daughter and I having a little bit of “Elsa” moment.
Let it go, let it go… I am one with the wind and skyyyy…. #obsessedwithfrozen

I think the spiral batik print at the front part kind of gives an illusion of a smaller waist. Haha. Me likey!

If you’re bored of wearing the same ol’ batik kurung to work on Batik Day, you could wear this batik cardigan instead and pair it with a plain skirt for a more formal look.

Oh, they also have batik shawls!

Beautiful, delicate batik shawls in yummy colors and prints. I rarely see people donning a batik shawl so I decided to try one.

I love how all Matase Sutera shawls have batik prints only on both ends and the patterns on each shawl are not too crowded.

I wanted to keep it simple so I just wore it with a plain shirt (Mango)

The great thing about batik is that each design is unique and one-of-a-kind. Same goes to Matase Sutera, where most of their batik prints are exclusively designed by them. And because they design their own batik, you can even request them to reproduce any clothing items that are out of stock in your size, and you may even request in the colors you want at the Pre-Orders section.

Matase Sutera ships internationally and they have customers from all over the world, including Brunei, Singapore, Australia, Pakistan, India, UK, Poland, South Africa, Hawaii and Brazil. They are now opening pre-orders for Raya and they even offer a 3-month installment.

Check out their website at www.matasesutera.com.
Happy browsing and shopping! :)
