Oreo Daddy Dunk

Went to Oreo Daddy Dunk event at One Utama to celebrate Father’s Day two Sundays ago.

The first thing I saw was this massive queue. I was like, what’s happening? Why are they queuing? I tried to have a closer look and…. of course.

Aaron Aziz was on the stage! People (or rather, girls) were queuing up for his autograph and pictures. I bet most of them were fans of Nora Elena, the TV series kot. I didn’t join the queue tho. Ramai sangat! Plus, it was hot and I was thirsty.

I was more interested with this:

Oreo Milkshake!

Oreo Milkshake is my favorite! 1 small cup was not enough so I had 3. One of these days, I’m gonna try to make my own Oreo Milkshake using the recipe.

While enjoying the cups of Oreo Milkshake, I had a look around. There were several games for dads, kids and even moms.

These dads had to eat the Oreo cookie from their forehead without using their hands.
Macam susah jer.

The kid who can lick the cream in the Oreo cookie the fastest would win this game.
Can you guess who won?

The comel-est kid! ;D
But each of them received a prize.

This is a game for dads and their kids.
The kids randomly picked out a card with a word on it, handed it to their dads
and they have to build as many simpulan bahasa as they can.

But the most interesting game was the Daddy Dunk, where you literally dunk your dad in it!

But it wasn’t just for dads la. Anyone who wants to be dunked can play it.

1 2 3…. whooosh!

Into the pool of balls!

Oreo cookies were sold cheaper than retail price that day – RM2.99!
I bought 4 packets.

Remember the Facebook app where you can create a personalized t-shirt for dads? There’s an online code when you want to redeem it at the event and I forgot about it. Dang! So instead of the personalized t-shirt, dapat the normal white one. Takpe la ;p

At the counter to redeem the t-shirt

Some of the customized t-shirt designs.

At 3.30pm, Aaron Aziz appeared once again on stage with some of the game participants (ladies of course). Did you know he’s the new ambassador for Oreo?

“Handsome la Aaron Aziz ni!”, I said.

Hubby rolled his eyes. Then he said, “Kenapa dorang tak panggil Lisa Surihani ker, Siti Saleha ker. Baru lah adil”.

Uhh hello, this is Father’s Day event. Mereka takde kena-mengena langsung! ;p

Anyway, hope y’all had a great father’s day celebration!

Trudy & Teddy Dress Up Party

Ayra had her first fashion show at Trudy & Teddy tea party last weekend! It was a private event, held at Parkson Alamanda, and it was heaps of fun! There were afternoon tea cocktail, clay art workshop, as well as caricature service.

Decorating door signs with the DIY kit
Raina, having her caricature drawn

The main highlight of this event was the dress up contest. Parents can choose their favorite apparels with matching accessories and shoes for their little models at Trudy & Teddy counter worth RM300. There were a lot of cute dresses and skirts and I was having a hard time choosing! There are basic wear, special occasion outfits, everyday wear and of course accessories.

At first I was thinking to have both my girls participate in the contest but the total outfits for both of them exceeded RM300. It’s either both of them participate with no shoes OR only one of them participate. Mana boleh model without shoes kan, so I let kakak to be the model!

Everyone was busy choosing outfits

We were given about 30 minutes to choose the outfits and dress up our little ones so everyone was kelam kabut. It was madness! If you must know, I usually spend hours belek-belek all the clothes and shoes first to see which one matches before deciding which ones to get. 30 minutes seemed not enough!
But I managed to find the ones I like at the very last minute:
a white blouse, a plaid skirt, black tights, a hat and a pair of cap-toe shoes

All dressed up and ready to go!

All of the participants must parade according to the route given that ended on a mini stage for them to strike a pose for the camera. Of course parents can lead or carry their kids especially if their model is a baby. So here we go!

Ceera and her baby Keisha, were contestants number 2

Our turn is next!

I was worried that Ayra would refuse to parade in front of a crowd because she is usually VERY shy (just like moi ;p) and just wants to be held sambil tutup muka. But thank God she did not! She paraded hand in hand with me and when people clapped, she clapped her hands as well. I bet because there were other kids as well; kalau tak, jangan harap!

There was a mini fashion show too, to showcase Trudy & Teddy’s collection. Their clothing line is inspired by classic European style with a twist of modernity yet simple and comfy in lots of subtle colors like ivory, white, brown, khaki, pink, grey and black. I noticed all of their apparels are made of cotton. They are high quality cotton fabrics from Japan with superior workmanship like cotton mini twill with satin finishing, fully combed cotton dobby, etc so they are no doubt comfortable for babies.

And then it was time to announce the winner. The judging were based on 30% parade skills and 70% on overall image.

The “Little Best Dresser” goes to….

Ethan!

I knew he would win – he was the only contestant who paraded on his own. Such a cute little fella! He won a prize worth RM500 (RM300 worth of Trudy & Teddy products and RM200 cash). His parents must be so proud of him!

With the mother of the Little Best Dresser, Merryn

I also had the chance to meet the designer of Trudy & Teddy!

It was such a fun event, we all had a good time.
And you know what’s the best part?

WE ALL GET TO KEEP THE OUTFITS THAT WE CHOSE FOR THE CONTEST WORTH RM300! Woohoo!!

I have been eyeing on this plaid skirt and the shoes especially!
(the shoes remind me of Chanel cap-toe ballet flats, except without the straps)

Proton Exora VIP Test-Drive Session

So my husband and I went to the Proton Exora VIP Test-Drive Session last Saturday at Fullhouse, Sunway Giza Mall (my first time there!).

Cutest car ever. Would be perfect for my girls!

It was a one-day program and there were 20 chosen couples including married couples, siblings and also friends – all who had the chance to discover more about Proton Exora and explore the advantages of the first national MPV.

We all had nasi lemak for breakfast, and then we were ushered to Level 2 for the talks and presentations. Mind you, this isn’t like any other regular test drive session. The activities were pretty unique and they revolved around the features of Exora which is S.P.A.C.E – Safety, Performance, Advance Styling, Comfort and Economical. There were talks and presentations on safety, investment, child development, relationship and even image consultancy!

Dr. Alvin Ng Lai Oon, Clinical Psychologist, giving a talk on child development.
Notice his tie? ;)

We were briefed about the safety features of Exora and how it is designed to protect children on-board with its driver door unlock system which only allows the driver’s door to be opened while the others are locked. This is one of the important features that every family-car must have! Exora also has speed auto lock function, Auto Block car locks function, as well as the pretensioner seatbelts. Dr. Alvin also gave some tips when traveling long distance with small children, which include bringing lots of snacks and toys to play with so the kids won’t get bored. Also, make a few stops (if traveling by car) every couple hours because kids can get very restless.

After the safety and child development talks, we had the performance test drive.

Each couple were given our own Exora to drive and we convoyed to Desa Park City where the test drive activities were held.

We were given instructions and directions via this walkie-talkie

Wouldn’t it be cooler if all Exoras come with this GPS Navigator? ;D

Here’s something we just discovered that day: integrated Bluetooth feature, which allows you to speak on your mobile phone safely when driving. Pretty cool, huh?

At Desa Park City

There were some contests and activities during the Exora performance test drive session.

Arranging all these luggage neatly into the boot.

The fastest couple to arrange wins!

Next, side-parking while blindfolded.

This challenge requires one person to be blindfolded and park the Exora within the cone parking area (side-parking), while his/her partner gives directions. The purpose is to build and strengthen trust among each other. My husband and I participated. I wasn’t sure if I could direct my husband to do side-parking because I myself don’t know how to do it, tiba-tiba nak direct orang lain! *panic*

We managed to complete it within 3 minutes tho. Ok la kan for someone who
doesn’t know how to do side-parking and give directions! I thought it’d be more than 5 minutes.

The fastest couple managed to complete it in just one minute by the way! They sure have a high level of trust with each other, huh.

We also get to test out the Proton Lotus Ride & Handling, emergency ABS and EBD brake on the driving circuit. Again, we were given instructions by Proton Exora driving instructor via the walkie-talkie on when to accelerate, when to brake hard and when to do a steep turn to avoid obstacles on the road – things that I had never actually experienced in real life. It was like a driving lesson, only fun-ner because we really get to test out the Exora and push it to the limit!

At around 2pm, we went back to Fullhouse to have our lunch before proceeding with the next talk on relationship, image, product wrap up and investment.

This bread butter pudding is sooo nice!
I wanna try make one soon.
One of the interesting talks was a topic on image. Cherrise Tan, Adamaya Image Consultant, gave a talk about the importance of style and image to boost self-confidence. And style could be attributed with Exora because it is stylish and has an attractive exterior!
The event ended with prize giving and again, makan! It was tea time la.

Each participant was given a goodie bag and a complimentary
1-hour massage at Thann Sanctuary, One World Hotel.

That was actually my first time going to a test drive session and I learned quite a lot about how to choose an MPV, the safety features of Exora including the ABS & EBS brake system (never knew what those were before!), and also the tips and guidance on the important aspects in building a harmonious family. It was, overall, a great experience!

Anyway, there’s an upcoming VIP test-drive session on the 2nd and 3rd of July in Penang. If you’re interested, go register yourself at www.allaboutexora.com.

Green Day

We spent the Labour day holiday the other day at Janda Baik for a green retreat. It was such a beautiful place; so green and peaceful. There were birds chirping, river flowing, cool breeze, lush green trees… I miss the place already!

Once in a while it’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of concrete jungle, and into the actual jungle. It made me realize how important it is to preserve these beauties. It’s great there’s Earth Day and other “green” campaigns to raise public awareness about the importance of saving the environment.

Sloggi, the underwear brand, also launched their own Love World campaign the other day, with partners TrEES and the Forestry Department of Selangor. It was held at Sungai Tekala Recreational Forest in Hulu Langat, which is the third largest forest park in Peninsular Malaysia.

The aim of this campaign was to create awareness on the importance of saving the rainforest, as well as showing our love and appreciation for the environment.

Welcome speech by the Director of TrEES, Christa Hashim

We had a mini jungle trekking shortly after that! FYI, that wasn’t my first time masuk hutan. I’ve jungle-trekked a few times and the earliest was at a Summer Camp by Dr. Hassan Ali when I was about 9. Seronok, except for the leeches part! I’ve been bitten by leeches a few times in my life and the scariest one was on my tummy! *shudders*

But don’t worry, no one was attacked by leeches that day (thank God it didn’t rain!).

We were each given this to protect ourselves from mosquitoes.
It worked! For me, at least.

Say hi to Audrey!

That’s Joyce.

Everything is so greeeeeeeen!

Of course I wasn’t wearing heels ;p

There were tiny flowers growing on the ground.
So nice!

Oh, did you know the age of a tree can be determined by measuring the circumference of the trunk in inches? Let say if the circumference of a tree trunk is 50 inches, the tree is approximately 50 years old.

If human age is determined the same way (waist circumference), I’d be….

I’d be….

Oh gee. I’m not gonna tell you. But I’d be older than I am now, that’s for sure.
So fat one! *cries*

This tree is about 80 years old!
Cindy just added years to this tree’s age ;p

With Ceera

I’ve heard of pokok Merbau, Meranti, Jati, etc before but never knew what they looked like until that day…

That Meranti tree is really old. Almost 100 years if I’m not mistaken!

Pokok petai pun ada!

Saw a river on our way back

The trail walk took about 30 minutes.

And then we planted a tree! I’ve never planted a tree before so that was actually my first time.

I don’t even know if I’m holding the spade correctly
(Umm…that white thing is called a spade, right?)

I think I burned a lot of calories that day! :) It felt great too, to be able to give something back to mother nature.

You know, if every one of us do our part to save the environment, the benefits for our earth will quickly add up! How about challenging yourself to do something green for a week? Do something different everyday and maintain that change for at least a week. It’s a start to something good!

I already participated in the 7-day challenge:

Day 1: Limit the usage of aircond.
I usually turn on the aircond at 10pm and only turn it off at 10am the next day. That’s 12 hours daily! But starting 25th April, I only limit it to 7-8 hours. It was hard at first, but we’re trying to get used to it.

Day 2: Save water
I still remember my mom used to nag when she saw me washing the dishes when I was younger. “Jangan membazir air! Tutup air, basuh semua pinggan mangkuk dengan sabun dulu, baru bilas semua sekali harung. Buka air perlahan, tak payah buka besar-besar. Tengok orang susah takde air macam mana, bla bla bla”. She can lecture me about water for an hour I tell you! Same goes to laundry. But it’s good that I have a “green mom” because thanks to her “lectures”, I now know how to save water when doing the dishes and only do laundry when I have a full load!

Day 3: Save electricity
This one is the same as above. And I’ve actually taught my kid! When no one is in the living room and the TV is on, Ayra would turn it off without me telling her to do so. It’s never too early to teach the kids!

Day 4: Stop paper bank statements
We can save hundreds of trees a year if we cancel the monthly paper statements and opt for electronic statements instead. I even stop buying newspapers and just read them online. Everything is online nowadays! You can even opt for e-books instead of books!

Day 5: Use reusable water bottle
My husband and I started bringing our own reusable water bottle instead of buying bottled mineral water when we’re out and about. There are a lot of cute ones and BPA-free!

Day 6: Use eco-friendly shopping bag
Saturday is a no-plastic-bag day at most supermarkets and I usually do my grocery shopping on that day. I love using my reusable shopping bags, not only for groceries. They’re cute and you can actually save the world in style!

Day 7: Enjoy the nature
How can you love something if you don’t enjoy it, right? Go somewhere with a beautiful scenery. The beach, the hills, the waterfall, the lake, etc. Get in touch with nature – literally! As I mentioned earlier, we went for a trip to Janda Baik and the view is breathtaking. When you love something, you’d want to help preserve it!

Doing something green is actually not as hard as I thought. I hope I can make it a habit of the things I did for the past 7 days because the simplest things we do have a great impact on our earth!

Shoes shoes and more shoes!

When I first heard of Shoe Festival, I was like…

“SHOE FESTIVAL? WHAT SHOE FESTIVAL? WHEN? WHERE? ARE THERE SHOES ON SALE??”.

Of course there were.

I tweeted my girlfriend, asking her if she’d like to go – and well of course she would! Girls and shoes are inseparable! ;p So off we went to PWTC on a Sunday afternoon, while my husband had a taste of what it feels like to be a househusband! That was actually the first time he looked after the kids by himself (usually it’s my mother-in-law). I wasn’t really worried tho because he’s been helping me with the kids even when I’m around – like diaper changing, bathing, preparing milk for Ayra, warming expressed breast milk for Raina…those kinds of stuff.

So anyway, the Shoe Festival.

We arrived at around 1 pm and of course the place was jam-packed with people (and shoes!). The first thing that sprung to my mind when I saw the crowd was the fight scene in ‘Confession of a Shopaholic’ where Becky wrestled with another shopper at a sample sale for a pair of Gucci boots! But of course there was no shoe-fighting at the Shoe Festival.

This is Dr. Fatin (she blogs too!)

And this is Suraya (she hates the camera!)

I had high expectations for the shoe festival particularly because Dato’ Jimmy Choo launched it so I thought there would be lots of branded shoes on sale, or brands like Aldo, Nine West, Guess, OR at least local brands like Eclipse and Vincci. There weren’t. Most of the brands were unheard of (at least to us) and the only familiar ones were Zang Toi, Fiorucci, Nose, Sketchers and Carlo Rino.

But it was kinda fun feasting our eyes on so many types of shoes. Let’s start with Jimmy Choo, shall we?

Love the diamond-encrusted heel!

This Nyonya Shoe is made of chocolate!

Biggest capal ever (that is capal, right?)

Wood-carved shoes

Skyscraper shoes, anyone?
(I think those are 9-inch heels!)
Mask shoes

Dragonfly shoe

When we were done with feasting our eyes, it was time to feast our feet pulak!

“Is this sandal too girly?”

“Ok ke kasut ni?”

“What about this one?”

“This sequin shoe is kinda cool, doncha think?”

*undecided*

My favorite part of the Shoe Festival is the Footwear Design Competition! The shoes were all so quirky and it made me think, “How the heck did they come up with the ideas?”. So creative! I think these shoes would make a cool perhiasan kat rumah. No really, I’m serious! They should sell it la.

My favorite of all. Love the swirly design.
I think I would even buy it if it was on sale!

1st prize winner

Despite the limited brands of shoes, we managed to grab some from Fiorucci and Zang Toi. Mine are both black patent.

Love the Fiorucci’s snakeskin wedge heel! That’s the only reason why I bought them even though I know I cannot wear pumps (I can only wear slingbacks). But that’s okay, I will practice and do whatever it takes to be able to walk in them!

Speaking of which, I could really do with a foot spa. I was in 5-inch heels for 5 hours that day (we went to Jusco Taman Maluri later after that to have our late lunch) and I haven’t been taking good care of my feet.

This deal from Milkadeal.com looks interesting – RM38 for Classic Manicure + Spa Pedicure + Soothing Gel Feet Soak + Hands & Feet Massage & Cuticle Treatment. Can’t remember the last time I scrubbed and moisturized my feet; maybe it’s time!
