SK-II Beauty Bound Asia

I have always loved watching makeup tutorials and product reviews on Youtube. In fact, I learned a lot of makeup techniques from Youtube videos (winged eyeliner, the “no makeup” makeup look, how to apply falsies, etc). I think it’s great that these beauty gurus share their knowledge and expertise because you know, some of us don’t have the chance to attend makeup classes and whatnot, so these easy-to-follow videos are a saviour!

My favourite Youtubers are Michelle Phan (there’s just something about her voice that makes me wanna watch more. So captivating!) and MakeupByTiffanyD (I love all of her makeup looks!).

Recognizing the growing importance of digital beauty influencers, SK-II proudly presents Beauty Bound Asia on Youtube, the region’s premier digital search and creator cultivation program in search of the next Michelle Phan. It is a part of SK-II’s #ChangeDestiny philosophy to inspire and empower women to take control of their own destiny.

Beauty Bound Asia is a ground-breaking initiative designed to help discover and cultivate the next generation of online beauty experts with mentorship programs and workshops curated and led by top beauty influencers in Asia. It’s open to all legal residents of 11 cities where the contest is taking place including Tokyo, Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and Syndey.

Phase 1 of the challenge in Malaysia was held in KL at Makespace, Quill City Mall on 12th September. A total of 73 contestants made it to Phase 1 and each of them was given a box of SK-II products worth RM2,000 before they left the event and they were supposed to capture on video their reviews of the products as part of the online challenge to qualify for Phase 2 of the challenge.

And hey, guess what?

I was also given the same box of SK-II products. Yay!! #excited (Thank you SK-II!).

  • SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence 50ml

  • SK-II R.N.A. Power Radical New Age Cream 80g
  • SK-II R.N.A. Power Radical New Age Essence 50ml

I may sound bias because I am an avid SK-II user, but really, I love all of these products! It’s so hard to pick just 1 favourite. I’ve been using the R.N.A Power Radical New Age cream and essence for more than a month now and I really love them. I’ve tried numerous brands of moisturizers before, and so far SK-II works the best for my skin. It hydrates and plumps my skin well and gives that lovely fresh morning glow. Yes it’s a bit pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. I don’t know about you, but I believe a good moisturizer is an investment for your skin (besides essence) and I won’t ever skimp on one.

But if I were to pick just 1 favourite from the box, it would be this.

The Mid-Day Miracle Essence. This is something new to me as it is kind of like a facial spray/mist. It contains a high level of Pitera and the Mid-Day version can be used over makeup and lock in moisture. It’s designed to help maintain your morning look and hydrate your skin. I think this comes in handy, especially after taking wudhu because I rarely touch up my makeup or re-apply my moisturizer after that (I just couldn’t be bothered to and because I like to limit my daily moisturizer usage to 2 times a day hehe). I can just spritz this onto my face instead. Easy-peasy! It’s now one my must-bring items in my bag, along with my other necessities.  This Mid-Day Miracle Essence would be great for long-haul flights too as skin tends to be more dehydrated and tired because it gets very little oxygen during flight time.

Anyway, Phase 2 of the BBA challenge will take place at Ruyi & Lin, Bangsar Shopping Centre this Saturday, and I’ll be joining the contestants. There’ll be workshops on beauty trends, skincare, tips and tricks from industry experts and lots more. For more info about the Beauty Bound Asia program, you can log on to www.beautyboundasia.com.
