Most women dream of having long, luscious lashes, which is why mascaras and fake eyelashes were invented. In fact, longer and thicker eyelashes have always been associated with femininity. Did you notice how cartoonist always draw female characters with long eyelashes to distinguish them from male characters?
I may be a little lucky in the brow department as they are somewhat thick and naturally arched (when I was in form 2, I had been called twice by the vice principal because she thought I plucked my eyebrows =__=’). My lashes, on the other hand, are in the average categories though – average length, average volume, average curl. I once read that genetics, along with your mother’s diet when she was pregnant determine the length of your lashes. And apparently, pregnant women who eat more olive oil and omega-3 fats will have babies with longer, thicker lashes. I don’t know how true is that but I did take 1 tablespoon of olive oil a day in my third trimester (my mother-in-law said it helps to ease labour; Wallahu a’lam) and omega-3 supplement. And my girls have long lashes! Ayra has slightly thicker and somewhat long lashes. Raina’s lashes may not be as thick as her sister, but her lashes are longer and curlier that it almost looked like she had been using an eyelash curler. So jealous! 😛
As for me, I have to depend A LOT on mascaras to get the desired long, thick and curly lashes. I almost cannot leave the house without it!
Unfortunately, some mascaras can actually thin your lashes, especially waterproof ones as they are drying to lashes. Some even slow the growth of hair follicles along the eyelids. But of course these are not the only causes of thinning eyelashes. Genetics and aging play a large role, but the environment, your nutrition and overall health have a huge impact on your lashes as well. Same goes to your brows! But there are ways to care for your lashes and brows, and prevent from future damage.
Say hello to Elizabeth Arden’s PREVAGE ® Clinical Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum!
The name pretty much says it all. It’s basically a serum that helps to improve the look of sparse, thinning lashes and brows, and prevent from future breakage and brittleness due to aging and environmental assaults. It contains exclusive formula that utilizes a blend of peptides, antioxidants and environmental protectors. The triple peptide complex support lash’s natural renewal cycle so that they look lush, healthy and revitalized. This serum also contains Vitamins A, C and E (antioxidants!), botanicals and lash conditioners to fortify and protect the lashes. It won’t darken eyelids or change iris pigmentation as it is prostaglandin free. And it’s ophthalmologist, clinically and dermatologist tested! I read the reviews here and was impressed by other people’s results, especially from a woman who lost her eyelashes from chemotherapy and they are slowly growing back after using the serum! So I decided to give it a try.
To use it, make sure your eyes are clean and free from makeup.
As for brows, again, make sure they are clean and free of makeup. Using the applicator brush, apply short strokes on the desired brow areas.
For optimum result, apply the serum every night before bed. The clinically tested formula is shown to reveal visibly longer, fuller and more beautiful lashes in just 2 weeks when used as recommended.
I have been using the Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE ® Clinical Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum for the past 2 weeks now and I noticed I have more lashes. Not as full as wearing falsies or mascara la, but I can tell there’s an improvement. I wasn’t sure if my lashes are longer tho, so I measured using the eyelash ruler thingy and whoaa, I think my lashes grew about… 1 mm maybe? Not bad la right. Of course I cannot expect my lashes to suddenly grow 5 mm longer!
Just like hair and skin, individual result may vary. Some may see the result within a week, some may take 3 weeks or longer. Just be patient and consistent!
This Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE ® Clinical Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum retails at RM380 and is available at all Elizabeth Arden counters nationwide.
